  • Security beefed up at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyederabad airports

    The security of country’s major airports at Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad has been increased further.

    Government has sanctioned more than 250 additional Central Industrial Security Force, CISF, personnel to give security. While 60 additional CISF personnel have been authorised for the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, a contingent of 100 personnel has been approved for Mumbai International Airport.

    Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday, Home Minister P Chidambaram said that Hyderabad airport will get 75 additional para-military troopers.

    He said, all these airports already have a deployment strength of 3,000-4,000 personnel each at present.

    The Home Minister announced sanction of additional CISF personnel for ‘samadhi sthal’ of late Indian leaders in Delhi and at Rajiv Gandhi memorial, Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
