  • SEHA’s aspiration to implement l AI programs for healthcare services lauded

    ABU DHABI : Participants at the 8th annual International Radiology Conference, organised by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), lauded the great efforts being made by SEHA in using the 4th industrial revolutions technologies for providing the best of its kind healthcare services for the customers of its medical facilities.

    The gathering also stressed the importance of providing the medical and paramedical staff with continuous education on the latest inventions in healthcare arena. The conference gave the radiology residents an opportunity to share their ongoing scientific activities and some locally diagnosed complex cases with international experts. Participants attended talks in multiple subspecialties like chest imaging, mammography, cardiac radiology, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal imaging, neuroradiology, pediatric radiology, and nuclear medicine.

    The conference recommendations included highlighting the importance of adopting AI, as a useful and effective tool in modern practice, and integrate it in our daily work and practices. They also point out that there are many new advances in medical imaging equipment. “We hope to keep updating our hardware as well as our software to be on par with the 4th industrial revolution”, they said. Delegates and sponsors were extremely delighted for having such a successful event in the capital of UAE for the first time. “We recommend continuing such events in Abu Dhabi, especially that we are aiming at making Abu Dhabi a leading regional destination for medical tourism”, they said.

    During the sixth session of the conference, which was a special session by the Radiology Society of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Amna Kashgari, KSA, discussed the issue of Acute Ischemic Stroke in Children – Up to Date, Dr. Metab Al Kubeyyer, KSA, tackled the MR Defecography, Dr. Lamia Jamjoom spoke about Interesting Cardiac & Chest Cases, and Dr. Khalid Khashoggi, KSA, also shed light on some Interesting MSK Cases.

    In the seventh session, Moderated by Dr. Manzoor Ahmed (UAE) and Dr. Ayman Ahmed (UAE), dedicated for NEURORADIOLOGY, Dr. Bradley Erickson, USA, spoke about Demyelinating Diseases, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, UAE shed light on the Top 10 Diagnosis in Neuroradiology, Dr. Bradley Erickson, USA, tackled Brain Tumours, What Radiologists Need to Know About Genomics & Radiogenomics and finally Dr. Mohammad Asif Dogar, UAE, spoke about Interesting Neuroradiology Cases.

    This was followed by Dr. Hussain Ali, from the UAE, discussing Neuroradiology cases.

    Dr. Mohammed Issa Tawil and Dr. Shyam Mohan, both from the UAE, moderated the eighth session, and Dr. Mohammed Issa Tawil, UAE, also presented a talk titled, Imaging of Neonatal Emergencies: A Head to Toe Approach.

    The next session was moderated by Dr. Usama Al Bastaki and Dr. Nishanth Shah, both from UAE, and during this Dr. Esat Memisoglu presented a talk on imaging of cardiovascular devices. After this, Dr. Saeed Alseiari from UAE, presented the use of Cardiac MRI in non-ischemic cardiomyopathies. This was followed by discussion of interesting thoracic and cardiac cases by Dr. Lutfi Kurban and Dr. Emad Moussa, both from UAE.

    In the 10th and last session, Dr. Asim Khwaja, UAE, moderator, presented an overview about interventional radiology. Dr. Jamal Al Koteesh, UAE spoke about gynecologic interventions. The issue of prostate embolization for BPH was tackled by Dr. Alaadin Hakim, UAE. Dr. Mohamed Al Marzooqi, UAE, presented neurointerventional radiology case series. An open discussion session have been also dedicated for reviewing the academic neurology scene in UAE, moderators Dr. Manzoor Ahmed and Dr. Hussein Ali, UAE, and anther session about interesting radiology pediatric cases, moderators Dr. Dr. Mohammed Issa Tawil and Dr. Shyam Mohan UAE.

    The second day of the conference also saw the organization of Satellite Symposium, hosted by Canon, titled AI and Machine Learning: Industry Perspective, presented by Dr. Ravi Bickram Shrestha, Singapore.

    The conference featured a very balanced scientific program that meets the need or radiologists and 14 academic hours of continuous education accredited by SEHA for the participants.

    Some 700 healthcare professionals from UAE and most of the GCC countries and Europe have participated in the conference. Some 40 scientific papers were presented during the event in which around 50 faculty members, specialists, consultants from the UAE, North America and Europe took place.

    SKMC might be the only hospital in the UAE with consultants in all sub-specialties of radiology and has the only radiology residency program in UAE accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-International. SKMC also provides some unique imaging services like cardiac and fetal MRI.
