Erasing early losses, the BSE benchmark Sensex gained over 57 points at midsession on Monday on emergence of buying in bluechips, led by auto and information technology sectors.

The Sensex, which had lost almost 100 points at the outset, bounced back to trade higher by 57.39 points to 19,922.24 at 1300 hrs.

Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 12.55 points to 5,961.30 at the same time.

According to marketmen the recovery in the bourses is attributed to a sharp upsurge in stock prices of Mahindra and Mahindra, Hero Honda, Tata Motors, Infosys Technologies, Tata Consultancy and Wipro.
