  • Sensex recovers by 92 pts in opening trade

    After Thursday’s losses, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today bounced back, rising 92 points higher in the opening trade on fresh buying by funds and retail investors.

    The 30-share index rose by 92.30 points, or 0.45 per cent to 20,407.62 points on the back of recovery in metal, banking and realty sector stocks.

    The index had lost 227.76 points in the previous session on emergence of profit-booking.

    The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 28.30 points, or 0.32 per cent to 6,148.60 points.

    Brokers said capital inflows by foreign funds into equities, helped stocks to rebound but software exporters stocks were under some pressure due to a weakening dollar.

    In Asian markets, the Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index was marginally up by 0.13 per cent, while Japanese Nikkei was down by 0.10 per cent in the morning trade on Friday.

    In US the Dow Jones Industrial Index ended 0.17 percent lower on Thursday.
