    Published on February 23, 2011

Falling for the second straight session, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange declined 118 points, or 0.6 percent, to 18,178, on Wednesday. The Sensex fell on continued selling by investors, triggered by concerns that surging oil prices due to political unrest in West Asia will lift inflation and interest rates. The Nifty fell 32 points, or 0.6 percent, to 5,437.

The bourses in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore dropped between 0.4 percent and 0.8 percent.
