    Published on December 31, 2010

The BSE benchmark Sensex on Friday extended its winning streak of past two sessions and opened 93 points higher on the last day of 2010, on sustained buying led by a firming trend on other Asian bourses.

The 30-share index of the Bombay Stock Exchange, which had gained over 363 points in the previous two sessions, moved 93.19 points up in the opening trade to 20,482.26 level, with all the sectoral indices trading in green.

In a similar fashion, the broad-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index climbed 46.05 points up to 6,106.40 level.

Brokers said that besides firming trend on the other Asian bourses, beginning of new settlement in the derivatives segment also buoyed the trading sentiments.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was up 0.13 per cent in the morning trade on Friday, while the US Dow Jones Industrial average ended 01.4 per cent down in the previous session.
