  • Serena Williams lifts her sixth Wimbledon Women’s Single title

    Serena WilliamsWorld Number One Serena Williams has annexed her Sixth Women’s Singles title at Wimbledon.

    In the final in London on Saturday, the American overcame 21-year old Garbine Muguruza of Spain in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in a match that lasted one hour and 23 minutes. With 22 Grand Slam titles, Serena has also moved closer to a Calendar Grand Slam, last achieved by German Steffi Graf in 1988. Muguruza was making her maiden appearance in a Grand Slam Final.

    Later tonight, the Indo-Swiss pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis will meet the Russian combination of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the Women’s Doubles Final.

    Meanwhile, the Indo-Vietnamese pair of Sumit Nagal and Nam Hoang Ly entered the Boys Doubles final after defeating the duo of Miomir Kec Manovic of Serbia and Casper Ruud of Norway in three sets.
