Bangalore: “Silent Angels build a nation while, loud devils destroy it.” was the key message conveyed by Dilip Cherian, India’s Image management guru at the first ever Rtn G Ramanand Silent Angel Award organised by Rotary Bangalore Downtown. Dilip Cherian, opined that as a nation, we are exposed more to negative news while, the work carried out by hundreds of thousands of angels or good Samaritans in this country goes unacknowledged. He went

on to remind us about the abilities within us to go out and help another person in need. In the same way that businesses have, “Angel Investors”, the society needs angels who invest their, time, effort and compassion.

According to Rtn Raghu Allam, President, Rotary Bangalore Downtown, “The Silent Angel award is instituted to honour the memory of Rtn G Ramanand. It acknowledges those who have helped others selflessly and tirelessly without expecting any benefits (professional or monetary) and go unrecognised. It’s our unique way of thanking them and sharing their work to motivate our society to do the same.”

This year the Silent Angel awards were presented to:

    • The team of Air Traffic Management and Control at Kempegowda International Airport Ltd (KIAL) for ensuring the safety of over 30 million passengers a year

    • Akumal Ramachander, for his inspirational work in discovering an unknown artist Harold Shapinsky, in New York and turning him into one a well-known name in the world of art

“The importance of aviation safety and travel is rarely recognised in conscious thought. The Air Traffic Management team at KIAL is delighted that Rotary Bangalore Downtown has recognised our contribution. This Silent Angel award will motivate our team and we will continue to ensure that Bangaloreans can go out and come back home to their families with the same secure feeling.” Added Mr A. Venimadhavan, Joint General Manager, Air Traffic Management, Airports Authority of India, Bangalore.
