  • Situation in J&K limping back to normalcy; Mobile Internet services snapped again in 5 districts of Jammu

    In Jammu and Kashmir, the situation is limping back to normalcy as authorities today relaxed restriction in more areas in Kashmir valley.

    Landline phone services are being restored area wise and some local newspapers too have resumed their publication from today.

    Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said, primary schools across the valley will reopen tomorrow and all necessary arrangements in this regard have been made.

    Meanwhile, mobile Internet services (2G) were once again snapped in five districts of Jammu region today, a day after the services were restored almost after 13 days. According to police sources, the decision was taken to check rumour-mongering and maintain peace and tranquillity.   Immediately after resumption of 2G mobile Internet services in five districts of Jammu region, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Range, Mukesh Singh had warned of strict action against anyone circulating fake messages or videos on social media.

    Mobile Internet services were snapped across Jammu region on August 4, a day before the Centre revoked provisions of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
