  • New Delhi/Ghaziabad: The World’s biggest five days’ National mega event “Smart India Hackathon-2019(Hardware Edition)” was successfully concluded at KIET Group of Institutions, recently. Honorable Chief Guest, Dr. Rajive Kumar, Advisor, AICTE and Guest of Honour Shri Atul GargHon’ble Minister of State, Food & Logistics, Govt. of U.P and Management Trustee graced the event.

    SIH-2019 (Hardware Edition) was inaugurated on July 8, 2019 at 18 nodal centers in India where participants worked nonstop for 120 hours on problem statements of various ministries.1500 youngsters were shortlisted from 1.2 lakh applicants to work on the problems of 9 Union Ministries and more than 40 industries in reputed institutes across the country.

    “My heartiest congratulations to every team who participated. Regardless of the results, they are winners for reaching this far. I am proud of team KIET who was pro-active with its responsibilities and grateful to the AICTE and MHRD who recognised us for being at par with IITs and NIITs.” Dr (Col) A Garg, the Director, KIET Group of Institutions.

    Shri Atul Garg, Management Trustee, KIET Group of Institutions in his address congratulated the winners and said “the prototypes prepared by the students should be given the opportunity to be converted into Start-Ups and the winners have all probability of becoming Entrepreneurs who can envisage future India as Smart India.” 

    The teams gave innovative solutions like lignin valorization: conversion into fuels, chemicals and materials, design of proto-type of hydrogen storage tank with adsorbent/hydride and demonstration in a vehicle and hardware for low-cost efficient vapor recovery system at fuel stations to name a few. The problem statements varied from sanitation to pollution control in the textile processing industry and low-cost production of Hydrogen. 

    Dr. Rajive Kumar, Advisor, AICTE highlighted the upcoming policies of AICTE and said “Competitions like SIH are the best means to provide opportunities to the budding technocrats to create world-class solutions for some of the top organizations of the world. Also, organizers can meet the bright young minds. Such events shall further promote digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement and make governance within everyone’s reach in the country.”

    The winners in the competition were awarded in three different categories – Simple, Complex and Complicated. Team Tayuva won Rs. 50,000 in the Simple category, TeamHex Code was declared as the winners of Rs. 75,000 in the Complex category while teams Membrain, Chemix and Panamera were awarded Rs. 1,00,000 for the Complicated category

    Mr. Satendra Srivastava, SPOC- SIH and Mr. Pankaj Pandey, Nodal Center Head and representative of MHRD along with Dr Manoj Goel,  joint Director and other members of trustee also expressed their happiness on the successful completion of SIH 2019 and offered their best wishes to the winners as well as all.
