  • Sodexo launches its 2011 Servathon in India

    Published on May 20, 2011

Mumbai:  Servathon is a global event run every year at the behest of Michel Landel, Global CEO for Sodexo. Its aim is to encourage Sodexo operations all around the world to come up with innovative and interesting ways in which funds can be raised for STOP Hunger. As part of our commitment to the communities where we do business, Sodexo launched the STOP Hunger initiative in 1996 to fight hunger and its root causes, engaging with employees, clients, vendor partners, and local communities to join forces to help fight hunger and its root causes. The STOP Hunger program is comprised of four main components:

Volunteering: encouraging and supporting Sodexo employees’ spirit of service to support hunger relief initiatives in their local communities.

Sharing Sodexo’s knowledge: providing nutrition, food safety, food waste education, and job and life skills training for the unemployed and homeless.

Food donations: donating perishable and non-perishable food to hunger relief organizations.

Financial donations: sponsoring and supporting programs that combat hunger and malnutrition.

Countries on 6 continents conduct 360 major programs and develop partnerships with more than 230 NGOs, associations, and charities.

“It’s a great programme,” a Sodexo site manager at a Mumbai office location, where both catering and FM services are provided, confirmed. “The employees on site were queuing to buy these mangoes, which are not only a great price but great quality as well. I even bought a few cases for myself!”
