  • Sonia says govt has taken steps for the welfare and well being of women

    Congress party President Sonia Gandhi has touched the issue of women safety in India on Sunday at the AICC session in Jaipur as she reiterated that Delhi gang-rape victim is symbol of women who suffer from similar fates.

    After the two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ sessions of Congress party, Sonia has launched the AICC session.

    Sonia Gandhi spoke about the women safety issue in India.

    She said that Delhi gang rape case has shocked the entire nation.

    She said that Delhi gang rape victim is symbol of women who suffer from similar fates.

    Safety is a fundamental right of every woman.

    Ensuring women development, she vouched for the one third reservation for women in the legislative bodies.

    Sonia Gandhi also condemned the acts of terror that emerged off late across the borders strongly.

    She expressed her grief over the LoC issue.

    Earlier on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi too spoke on LoC issue.

    He advocated diplomacy and firm response to deal with Pakistan after the beheading incident happened at LoC.

    Referring to the diplomatic strategy followed by India after the 26/11 attacks, Rahul advised senior party leaders that India should deal firmly with the neighbour.

    He also added that it should be on national interest and not an emotional outburst.

    Sonia Gandhi accepted that corruption is the biggest problem of modern India.

    She said that congress has set strong policies to combat corruption with an efficient five point agenda.

    This agenda includes the introduction and passing of the Lokpal Bill, better allocation of natural resources, transparency in governance, direct cash transfer and so forth.
