JORHAT : Asom Divas alias Sukapha Divas was celebrated centrally at Sukapha Samannay Khetra at Moubondha which lies in the city outskirts beside the NHG-37 which was attended by Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Chief Minister as the chief guest while Naba Kumar Doley –Minister of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam attended as the guest of honour. Among Bishnu Kamal Bora-director, department of Cultural Affairs , Government of Assam, Dr. Dayananda Borgohgain-vice president of the Sukapha Samanaay Khetra and chairman of Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, Bhoban Bharali-MLA Dergaon, Dr. Suresh Gogoi-Tai Scholar, Roshni Aparanji Korati-Deputy Commissioner, Jorhat and Subhas Das –chairman of Assam Housing Development Board, were present on the occasion at the glittering function which was organized by Department of Cultural Affairs, Jorhat District Administration and Tai Ahom Sangathan Samannay Rokhi Samiti that was held at the Choulung Sukapha Samannay Khetra here today.
The chief minister announced that Sivasagar district will soon be declared as a Monumental Park and special thrust will given for inclusion of Charaideo maidams for the World Heritage Tag and also will be declared as Sorgodeo Samannay Khetra very soon. Moreover the chief minister announced that a huge size statue of Sukapha will be installed at the premises of the Janata Bhawan, Guwahati and a a Sukapha Chair will be erected at Dibrugarh University while an International Trade Centre for Shanshi and Agaru will be establish at Golaghat and both the trees will be declared as non-forest product which grow abundantly at Jorhat, Sivasagar and Golaghat which has a high price in international market and towards the middle east. Students’ fraternity was asked to work hard for the development and growth of work culture through which only the rural areas will get a boost for development. We should try to follow the teachings and dream of Choulung Sukapha who tried to create Bor Asom and to build unity among the vast masses as the present government is planning very high for the same.
Earlier Dr. Dayananda Borgohain , Naba Kumar Doley, Bishnu Kamal Bpra, all spoke in detail about the great teaching of Sukapha and further requested the p[people of Assam not to follow on rumours and negative talks by a section of people canvassing in the state.
Moreover a book on Choulung Sukapha authored by Dr. Dayananda Borgohain was released by the Assam Chief Minister on the occasion and three teams who stood first, second and third at the quiz competition organized by Department of Cultural Affairs was awarded with cash and citation where Kamrup beg first prize, followed by Sivasagar and Nalbari
