South Indian Music is more melodious than North Indian: Kavitha Paudwal

Hyderabad, April 17, 2019…Kavitha Paudwal, the famous Bollywood and Bhajan singer and daughter of Anuradha Paudwal, one of India’s well known playback singers was in city. She was invited by Sri Amit Munot under the aegis of Sri Jain Seva Sangh to perform at Hyderabad at Exhibition grounds on the eve of Mahavir Jayanthi on Wednesday

Interacting with media prior to her performance “Ek Shyam Bhagwan Mahavir Ke Nam” where she was to be performing along with Sheetal Pandey, she said it was her first performance for Jains in Hyderabad. This is my third or fourth live performance in Hyderabad. I have been to Hyderabad three or four times in the last two months, she said

I had good opportunity of singing some Telugu songs for AR Rahman and Keeravani. Though I don’t remember songs, I enjoyed them. I sang many songs for AR Rahman and his films Gentleman, Sepany, Love U Hamesha, Jeans she informed

Language was never a problem for me to sing in any language. I know Sanskrit well. So there was no problem, she said.

If given a chance I will jump at work in Telugu film industry. South Indian Music is more melodious than North Indian said Kavitha Paudwal.

Tamil and Telugu film industries are doing so well technically and producing films on par with Hollywood films.  There is so much Music is produced here than Bollywood. If Bollywood produces ten songs in a year, Tollywood is producing the same number in one month, she said.

I like Hyderabad very much. But, unfortunately I haven’t got much time to visit places in the city she shared.

In a career spanning over 20 years I have sung well over 500 bhajans, Bollywood and other film songs, devotional songs she informed.

I don’t have to balance between these differ genres. It comes so natural to me. I got involved with music at the age of thirteen. I as trained in classical music by Pandit Jialji and Suresh Wadkar along with my mother. My debut as a playback singer was the film Junoon. I sang for Pooja Bhatt, the older sister of Alia Bhatt in that film.  By the time I was sixteen I had composed music for two films.

Versatile singer Kavita Paudwal excels in Bollywood music Bhajans. Ghazals, divine songs and has sung in all the Indian languages and continues to strive for excellence. Kavita Paudwal gave splendid performances of many divine songs. She has performed along with her mother and individually at many places across India

I did my first recording at the age of 5 years. I had the biggest advantage as my both parents were already made big themselves in the music industry. I had grown up with music she announced.

My first Album came up when I was a teen. I wanted to become a doctor but I landed up in Music industry and became a singer. Before I had decided to become something I was already a singer.  As a kid, teenager I was participating in many competitions. I Won many prizes. I never felt pressurized. Our parents never pulled me into music. My younger brother played Tabla at the age of 2 years, she shared.

When I first got a call from AR Rahman for a singing assignment I thought it was a prank call. Now when I look back, he is one such a Music Composer with whom I have sung more songs almost for eight or nine films, she shared

The young generation needs to learn well before they explore career in the music. There are no shortcuts for success, she said.

You study medicine to become a doctor. Similarly learn music well to gain a firm foothold in the music industry she gave advice to the budding talent.

Commenting on the reality shows, she said as platform they are doing well.

Recording a song is different from performing live. The latter is more challenging. You can have reality check as a singer there and then, where do you stand in the minds of the people, she said.

Devotional Music Market has emerged as a very big market in India.  It is a very important part of Indian identity within and outside India.  Within devotional music there is so much variance from region to region. Some of the big occasions for Devotional music are Navratri, Diwali, Gokul Ashtami, Pongal, and Bhaid Dooj.

Kavitha had sung for various film composers like AR Rahman, Bappi Lahiri, Lakshmikanth Pyarelal, Anu Mallik. She has done playback singing for actors like Pooja Bhatt, Kajol, Somali Bendre, Aishwarya Rai. She sung with co-singers like Hari Harlan, Sonu Nigam, Jaaved Ali and Shaan.

She sung in Nepali language also. She has released 40 CDs with T- Series and Times Music.
