South Shore Chamber of Commerce Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Scituate Salt Cave in Scituate Harbor

The South Shore Chamber of Commerce, along with the Scituate Chamber, recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Scituate Salt Cave, a unique new wellness facility featuring  handcrafted salt caves using 30,000 pounds of glowing pink salt sourced directly from the Himalayas.

Scituate residents Cristina Curreri and Paul Dardinski are the co-owners of the Scituate Salt Cave, the first restorative salt cave in the greater Boston area, located in the heart of Scituate Harbor at 164 Front Street. The beautifully renovated building also includes retail space for salt and spa products and items from local artisans.

State Senator Patrick O’Connor and State Representative Patrick Kearney presented the new business owners with a commendation from the MA Senate and House of Representatives. Along with Susan Fiore, President of the Scituate Chamber of Commerce, and Julie Williams, Vice President of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, they welcomed the new business to downtown Scituate and the South Shore.

The Scituate Salt Cave will offer deep, detoxifying relaxation sessions to restore the mind while balancing the body. They offer two beautifully constructed indoor salt caves, ranging in size to accommodate 2 to 12 guests. While in the cave, guests can recline on zero gravity chairs or lay directly on the warmed salted floor while listening to peaceful ocean sounds and music and inhaling air infused with pharmaceutical grade therapeutic salt.

“It feels like a week’s vacation at the beach, in just 45 minutes,” said Curreri of the experience. “Guests leave the cave relaxed and glowing.”

The benefits of salt therapy have been enjoyed for centuries. Discovered in the European salt mines centuries ago, salt therapy, also known as Halotherapy, is a natural way of treating many health issues, such as: asthma and seasonal allergies; arthritis and inflammation; eczema, acne and psoriasis; migraines and headaches; COPD and emphysema; cystic fibrosis; stress relief; seasonal affective disorder; anxiety and depression; snoring and sleep apnea; sinusitis; muscle tension and it’s anti-aging.

“Cristina and Paul are bringing something truly special to the South Shore that will attract people from beyond the region,” said Peter Forman, President and CEO of the South Shore Chamber. “The salt caves are something that you really need to see and experience to appreciate. This relaxing and restorative environment is literally a breath of fresh air for our community, especially as we emerge and heal from the pandemic.”

“We would like to thank the Scituate Chamber of Commerce, the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, Senator O’Connor, Representative Kearney and the community for your overwhelming support,” said Curreri.

“I have worked in the wellness industry for 25 years, and have long held the dream of opening a healing center, but was unsure of exactly what that looked like. And then, we discovered the salt cave experience for ourselves, and we knew. After extensive research, Paul and I are thrilled to have created this beautiful healing space for our community. We look forward to a long future in the heart of Scituate, and hope to be a true destination spot that attracts new visitors and guests to our beautiful harbor.”

Scituate Salt Cave offers Halotherapy sessions, yoga, wellness retreats, ionic foot baths, private Reiki sessions, and more.
