State party chief Shivpal Singh Yadav expelled Udayveer Singh for six years on charges of indiscipline. Sources said, Mr Mulayam Singh was upset with his son and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for sheltering Udayveer as the raging crisis in the party showed no sign of respite.

MLC Udayveer Singh, a staunch supporter of Akhilesh Yadav, wrote a letter to Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav in favour of Mr Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday in which he cautioned about conspiracies hatched allegedly by Mr Mulayam Singh’s second wife against Akhilesh Yadav.

Our correspondent reports that the decision of expulsion came after Mr Mulayam Singh met senior leaders in Delhi to find ways to end the raging infighting which is threatening to take the party to the verge of a split.

Party insiders claimed, he was very upset that his son sheltered Udayveer Singh who wrote a letter alleging that the CM was targeted by his stepmother and even black magic used against him.
