Olympic silver medalist and world number six PV Sindhu has stormed into the semifinal of Singapore Open women’s singles badminton tournament, defeating China’s Cai Yanyan 21-13, 17-21, 21-14.
In another quarterfinal match, sixth seed Saina Nehwal lost to former world champion and second seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-8, 21-13 in a one-sided affair. Sindhu will now face Okuhara for a spot in the final.
In another match, Kidambi Srikanth is slated to take on Japan’s Kento Momota.
