Sid Sriram is the most streamed filmy artist, and ‘Chitti’ is the most streamed film song between April 1 and June 30 this year

Hyderabad : Despite the lack of releases in Tollywood movies and songs during the pandemic, the love for all things filmy continues to be a part of what Telugu audiences watch and listen to. The music and lyrics from film songs are undeniably relatable, and can often soundtrack our daily moods and moments. To highlight how filmy music is such an important part of our lives across the country, Spotify looked at data from the last three months (April 1 – June 30, 2021) to see what listeners across different regions of India have been listening to.

In Hyderabad, artists from across generations featured in the list of most listened to Tollywood voices, with the top 10 most streamed artists being Sid Sriram, Arijit Singh, Anirudh Ravichander, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Shreya Ghoshal, Pritam, K. S. Chithra, Anurag Kulkarni, Devi Sri Prasad and A.R. Rahman. Listeners can follow any of these artists or like any of their songs on Spotify using the ‘heart’ icon in the app, and they will see other similar suggestions, making it easier to discover more music and artists that appeal to them based on their likes.

The top 10 most streamed Tollywood movie songs included Chitti (‘Jathi Ratnalu’), Jala Jala Jalapaatham Nuvvu (‘Uppena’), Okey Oka Lokam (‘Sashi’), Laahe Laahe (‘Acharya’), Tharagathi Gadhi (‘Colour Photo’), Hey Idi Nenena (‘Solo Brathuke So Better’), Maguva Maguva (‘Vakeel Saab’), Hoyna Hoyna (‘Nani’s Gang Leader’), Kaatuka Kanule (‘Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra’) and Bhalegundi Baalaa (‘Sreekaram’). Listeners can add these songs to a queue and to a playlist with their favourite film music on Spotify.

Beyond music, audio storytelling through podcasts is also becoming increasingly popular in Telangana. In fact, several Telugu podcasts such as, Telugu interesting facts and (OST BGM), Chai Bisket Telugu Podcast, Telugu Kathalu By Pavani, Telugu Geeks Podcast and Garikapati Gyananidhi have been featured on the app’s top podcast chart in India.
