SRF Board Approves Rs. 200 cr R&D Projects

Gurgaon, India

• A major step in SRF’s R&D initiatives
• The projects to be completed within 12 to 18 months

SRF board today approved three R&D driven projects at a total estimated cost of around Rs. 200 crore for setting up new units in its Chemical Complex at Dahej in Gujarat. The projects that were approved today are Flexible Multipurpose Plant, Intermediate Speciality Plant and Captive Power Plant. All the three projects along with the ongoing project of multi-purpose plant at the Dahej Chemical Complex on completion are expected to significantly enhance SRF’s capability to cater to the increasing demand of world’s major pharma and agro companies for timely supply of new fluorospecialities at a competitive rate in large volume.

The Flexible Multipurpose Plant is expected to produce a variety of new and emerging fluorochemicals from a flexible production facility in campaigns. Though, the plant will essentially produce only one product at a time, it will have the flexibility to manufacture variety of products from the same facility. Given the uncertainties involved in the success of such products of future, the flexible model of the new plant de-risks the plant from the possibility of a failure of some of the products. The multi-purpose plant is also expected to strengthen SRF’s capability to produce new products in relatively short timeframes with marginal incremental investment.

The Intermediate Speciality Plant, the second project that was approved today, is expected to enable SRF to access a new range of high value speciality products.
