Mumbai : The three-day Global Stainless-Steel Expo (GSSE) 2022 began on Tuesday in Mumbai at Jio World Centre, BKC. This is the first and one-of-its-kind stainless steel event organized in the world to promote the interest of stainless steel industry.
The event saw participation of more than 500 companies from all over the world.
The Expo was inaugurated by Additional Steel Secretary, Rasika Chaube in presence of Jindal Stainless Limited MD, Abhyuday Jindal, Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) President KK Pahuja and Executive Director, SAIL’s Saleem Steel Plant- Sanjeev Taneja.
A vision document 2047 was launched by the Additional Secretary at the event. In her address, the official said directed the industry players to take steps to make India a net exported country. She also said Ministry of Steel is taking several measures to increase the usage of steel and stainless steel in the country.
According, the Vision document 2047, Stainless Steel demand is expected to witness a volume growth of 19.5-21% to reach 3.7 -3.9 MT fiscal 2022 supported by a low base, astable macroeconomic environment and normalised government spending.
Industrialist Abhyuday Jindal said the Ministry has taken various steps to take the steel industry like the launch of National Steel policy 2017, the focus on scrap recycling, quality control orders, etc.
He further added the industry looks forward for the continuous support of the steel ministry to achieving the stainless-steel vision 2047. Indian Stainless Steel industry has adequate production capacity.
KK Pahuja said Stainless steel industry is committed to play its role in the nation building providing sustainable solutions across various sectors.GSSE 2022 also hadOutokumpu, Ratnamani, Laxcon Steel and Minox Metal as Gold Partners. The exhibition is supported by Indian Stainless Steel Development Association (ISSDA) as Lead Association, Pegasus Consulting as Knowledge Partner, Stainless Bazaar as Digital Partner, Stainless Steel Pipe & Tube Manufacturer Association (SSPTMA), Metal and Stainless Steel Merchants Association (MASSMA), All India Stainless Steel Industries Association (AISSIA), Stainless Steel Merchants Association (SSMA), Process Plant & Machinery Association of India (PPMAI) and Non-Ferrous Metals Association-Karnataka (N’MAK).
The exhibition was hosted with adequate safety precautions in place to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Commenting about the event, Anitha Raghunath, Director, Virgo Communications and Exhibitions said “India is a prominent nation for the global steel industry, leading the way and setting an example for others to emulate. As such, it needed a dedicated convergence point to explore business development opportunities, get perspectives from experts and most importantly, get reliable information in a ‘hands-on’ format.
