Haflong  : Several organisations like Ladies Welfare Society, Dimasa Mothers Association, Blue Hills Society, AROH and others demanded stern action against the killers of mentally retarded women of New Tumbung village under Umrangso Police station in a press conference held at Ladies Welfare Society on Wednesday.

It is learnt that Om Kumari Sarma 45 wife of Sri Bishma Sarma of New Tumbung village under Umrangso Police Station was a mentally retarded woman was missing from June 8^th  and FIR was also lodged  at Umrangso police station as well as Panimoor out post but the police failed to find out the missing woman following which the residents of New Tumbung  initiated a search operation along with the police and led to the recovery of dead body of Om kumari in a gorge near panimoor . The signs of the body claimed that the lady was brutally tortured and killed which a sense of tension began to prevail in and around that area.

All the speakers while condemning the heinous crime meted out to mentally retarded woman expressed solidarity with the victim and flayed the indifferent attitude of the Administration as well police administration. They also warned that if the administration fails to deliver justice to the victim of such brutality, they would not remain silent and requested all concerned not to use any instigating remarks  and give peace a chance to prevail in the district.

Meanwhile, following pressure from the public the police apprehended Bikas Sangma 32, son of Satyen Marak , Raja Sangma 18 son of Biren Marak , Buoy Marak 44  son  of Lt Lal Bahadur Thapa of Pathor Quiry Garo basti  and sent the court.
