The East Zone finals of the 2nd edition of the National Inter-college Crossword Expedition (NICE) were successfully held at Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) on Friday.
These esteemed dignitaries graced the event with their presence and added significance to the East Zone finals of NICE.
NICE was inaugurated last year as part of the effort to meet the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to nurture a vibrant campus life and incorporate a multi-disciplinary approach to education. The apex body of technical education in India organized the contest in association with the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, and Extra-C, a civil society initiative for the promotion of a holistic educational environment.

The distinguished guests and dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Professor Dr. Rana Rana Singh, Director of CIMP and Shri Kumod Kumar, the Chief Administrative Officer of CIMP with bouquets.
Professor Dr. Rana Rana Singh delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to AICTE, NITIE Mumbai, and EXTRA C for providing CIMP with the opportunity to host the event. Shri John Hongrey from AICTE expressed his happiness at the growing size of the contest and remarked that this East Zone round seemed even grander than the previous ones. He acknowledged having witnessed the program before and appreciated the efforts put into organizing it.
Shri Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, lauded the efforts put in by AICTE and Extra-C under the able guidance of Development Commissioner Vivek Singh, to induce the practice of solving crosswords in youths, thereby sharpening their brains. He highlighted the importance of developing a more rational and developed society, and how events like NICE contribute to the evolution of a better-skilled society and culture as a whole.
Shri Divesh Sehra, Honourable Secretary, SC-ST Welfare Department, Govt. of Bihar, expressed his views on the need for societal progress and emphasized the role of events like the NICE in fostering a skilled society. He highlighted the significance of such initiatives in creating a more rational and developed society.
Development Commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh presented the keynote address, highlighting how crosswords, once relatively unknown, are gradually gaining popularity and becoming a topic of discussion. He expressed his gratitude to all the supporters and associates who contributed to the successful organization of the event. Commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh further emphasized the benefits of crosswords in enhancing critical and logical thinking and decision-making abilities. He applauded CIMP’s efforts in promoting co-curricular activities like the National Inter-college Crossword Expedition (NICE) and acknowledged the establishment of the Extra Edge club at the institute.

The Chief Administrative Officer of CIMP, Shri Kumod Kumar, presented the vote of thanks, extending his appreciation to AICTE, NITIE Mumbai, EXTRA C, as well as all the sponsors and associates who played a crucial role in making the event possible. Development Commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh presented mementos to all the guests of honor.
Additionally, CIMP presented a special memento to the Development Commissioner, manufactured by one of its startups, Paper Pepper.
