Jorhat :  Hitendra Nath Goswami, the Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly assures Jorhatians and people from three Upper Assam districts will be free from dreaded disease like cancer which is suspected to be the cause behind for the growing menace in Upper Assam belt from underground water following which a dream project started commissioning to pull water from the mighty Brahmaputra to its reservoir at Potiagaon within the city outskirts here today.

Mr. Goswami who paid a whirlwind tour to the project site and took over the stock and was happy with 60% completion of its work which a population from five panchayats will start providing with surface drinking water for 24X7 after its treatment at its reservoir, which was denied earlier and for further completion the Jorhat MLA cum Assembly Speaker seeks people cooperation from the residential service areas, said Ananta Das, district BJP Party spokesperson who accompanied the visiting team.

The project ‘Composite Water Supply Scheme for Sustainability & Quality in Jorhat surface water to the development block of the Jorhat district including three districts from upper Assam which will spread to over 6432 square Kms, with the source from river  Brahmaputra. The belt from Golaghat to Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Sonari where people were provided with ground water  that too is with arsenic  found risky for the dreaded disease like cancer and Kidney ailment as per study completed by WHO 2015, and with the completion of the project the people from such areas will be away from such diseases, said Hitendra Nath Goswami for the  surface Water Treatment site here today to a team of visiting journalist.
