  • Sustainable Journeys 6 Indian EV Startups at the Forefront of Transforming the Mobility Landscape

     As the global focus on sustainability intensifies, both nations and businesses are placing a paramount emphasis on the promotion of electric vehicles. In recent years, the discourse surrounding the increased utilization of EVs has gained prominence. While India embarked on the electrification of vehicles later than some European countries, the United States, China, and Japan, the country has witnessed a remarkable surge in EV adoption. This surge can be attributed to the entry of numerous startups into the sector and supportive government policies.

    Indian EV startups are at the forefront of providing a range of services to the general public and enterprises. These services encompass sustainable mobility, energy infrastructure, commercial mobility, and battery management systems, among others. Moreover, these startups play a crucial role in mitigating carbon emissions and presenting a more cost-effective alternative to traditional fossil fuels.

    Zypp Electric

    Zypp Electric India’s Leading Tech-Enabled EV-as-a-service platform, which has also appeared in Shark Tank India Season 1. Zypp Electric offers B2B delivery and shared mobility services to consumers. It provides electric scooters for last-mile delivery to more than 50 companies, including Zomato, Swiggy, BigBasket, Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, PharmEasy, Delhivery, and Spencers, among others. 

    Founded in 2017 with a Mission of Zero Emission and to make India carbon-free by using an ecosystem of Electric Vehicles and EV-based technology to make last-mile logistics sustainable and emission-free. Zypp Electric’s business model is to make carbon-free last-mile delivery for local merchants from e-commerce giants to delivery executives and thereby reduce delivery cost and pollution on an asset-light model.

    The company currently delivers groceries, medicines, food, and e-commerce packages from point A to point B through their fully automated IoT and AI-enabled scooters which are low on maintenance and high on performance. Currently, it has over 17,000+ and increasing Zypp EVs and Pilots (delivery executives) working towards this mission.

    Godawari Electric Motors

    Launched in July 2019, headquartered in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Godawari Electric Motors Pvt Limited (eblu) aims to reduce its carbon footprint with its state-of-the-art e-mobility solutions. Godawari Electric Motors, the brainchild of Siddharth Agarwal and Mahendra Agrawal ventured into a new business model with an investment of Rs 100 crore for this new venture that involves manufacturing EVs under its manufacturing platform Godawari Electric Motors.

    The company has launched e-cycle range, e-scooter, e-auto and e-loader and has 50 dealerships as part of its retail network expansion strategy. Godawari Electric Motors is committed to providing customers with an array of options that meet their needs. The brand aspires to have a pan-India presence with sales of 1 lakh e-2-wheelers and 1 lakh electric 3-wheelers per annum by 2025.


    Founded in 2021, in Gurgaon (India), MoEVing is India’s first technology platform focused on developing the EV ecosystem with data at the center of its strategy. Our current product offering aims to resolve supply, demand, and infrastructure issues for commercial vehicle drivers. MoEVing provides solutions to top e-commerce, e-grocery, FMCG, logistics, and D2C companies to optimize their logistics costs and meet their goals of reducing carbon emissions.

    At the same time, on the supply side, we work with OEMs, driver cum vehicle owners, and financial institutions to help address various constraints that are coming in the way of EV adoption. Lastly, we are building a charging infrastructure and maintenance ecosystem to ensure the driver partner can optimally drive vehicles for commercial usage. MoEVing currently operates 1500 EVs (2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, and 4-wheelers for intra-city commercial mobility) in 16 cities with over 30 clients.

    Magenta Mobility

    Magenta Mobility has transitioned from being a contributor to the EV charging ecosystem to serving as a comprehensive, end-to-end integrated emobility solution provider. At present, the company oversees a fleet of over 1,550 electric three-wheelers in the L5 category for last-mile delivery, with plans to expand this number to over 3,000 vehicles by the conclusion of FY24. Magenta Mobility conducts its cargo delivery and logistics operations in nine cities, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, and Hyderabad.

    Although not engaged in manufacturing, the startup procures its three-wheeler EVs from Piaggio, Altigreen Propulsion Labs, Euler Motors, and Mahindra. In terms of charging infrastructure, Magenta Mobility manages 39 charging depots to meet the charging requirements of its EV fleet. Additionally, the company develops software technology to facilitate the entire emobility ecosystem.

    AMO Mobility
