H yderabad, April 18 (Hindusthan Samachar): After a day-long drama and confusion prevailed on the fate of poll alliance between Telugu Desam and BJP in Seemandhra region of Andhra Pradesh, finally leaders of both the parties agreed today to remain allies and take measures to strengthen bondage between cadres of two parties.
Last evening leaders of the both the parties felt that the alliance is almost on the verge of collapse. TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu even made the comments at a public meeting at Gajapathinagaram in Vizianagaram district stating that there was no use in going ahead with the alliance.
While suspending his campaign schedule Chandrababu Naidu returned to Hyderabad, BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javedkar also rushed to the city last evening. Both the leaders held consultations and finally decided to go ahead with alliance. After this confirmation, Chandrababu Naidu left for campaign in Krishna district.
Prakash Javadekar has said that the alliance would continue to exist in Seemandhra. The long talks finally turned rewarding. It is likely that a few seats given for BJP would be reallocated to TDP.
After the meeting between Javadekar and Chandrababu Naidu was concluded, Javadekar called on former BJP president M. Venkaiah Naidu along with AP-BJP president Dr K. Haribabu at the former’s residence in Hyderabad. TDP MP Sujana Chowdary and former MP Kambampati Rammohan Rao were also present.
Leader of both the parties also agreed to conduct joint poll campaign in the region and organize visits of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and other BJP national leaders.
According to soruces, BJP agreed to leave Itchapuram assembly segment in Srikakulam district, among 14 assembly seats allocated for the party as part of seat sharing, will be left out for TDP. Thus, now BJP will contest only in 13 assembly seats.
Earlier, among 5 Lok Sabha seats, BJP had left Araku Lok Sabha seat for TDP and now contesting only in 4 seats. In return, TDP promised to support BJP in three Legislative Assembly seats (MLC) later.
