  • In Tamil Nadu, reports of losses to properties keep pouring in post-Cyclone Nivar. Weather experts say it appears to have had a landfall of lesser intensity as compared to earlier predictions. Reports say three people died of incidents relating to floods like tree-falls and electrocution in the state.

About 1600 hectares of paddy have suffered losses, besides damages to plantain, groundnut and tapioca crops. Nearly 1100 trees were uprooted and most of them have been cleared. The 77 electric poles that fell due to the fury of the cyclone have been restored by the state discom.

However, a few places in Chennai are reeling under flood waters and efforts to evacuate the stagnant waters are on.
