  • Tata Steel received enthusiastic response on the 2nd edition of online summer camp

    Jamshedpur : The second edition of the online summer camp, organised by the Sports department of Tata Steel from May 17 to June 8 came to a close with an increase in viewership by more than 65% over last year. The objective of this year’s summer camp was to promote health & fitness through training on various sports, health & fitness disciplines which is also in line with Government of India’s initiative ‘Fit India’.

    The 2nd edition of the online summer camp garnered more than 67,000 views of videos of all disciplines across various online platforms (as of yesterday). The 2020 edition of the Summer Camp, organised digitally for the first time, had seen more than 40,000 views across platforms during the camp. 

    The initiative was well received by various residents of Jamshedpur and other cities across the country including school children, guardians, teachers etc. The novel and easy to understand format of the videos engaged people who stayed at home during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The camp participants were provided basic induction from expert coaches on 19 sports and fitness disciplines through specially curated online videos available on Tata Steel’s corporate website and YouTube channel. These channels are available even now for the sports and fitness enthusiasts.  The camp was organised with ‘GRITZO’ as the Nutrition and ‘ENERZAL’ as the Hydration partner.     Sports Department has been organising sports camp in its operating locations of Jharkhand and Odisha for last many years for school students and budding sports persons. In view of the ongoing second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the Company leveraged digital platforms to connect with the young and budding sporting talent during the camp while ensuring safety. The camp, accessible across the globe free of cost, primarily catered to children in the age group 6-18 years through sports like cricket, basketball and more. People in other age groups including adults could also benefit from modules on Yoga, Zumba etc.
