  • Tension continues on Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, violent clashes between troops near Tawang sector

    GUWAHATI : Several soldiers from both sides were reportedly injured during a clash between Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district. The incident took place on December 9. According to army sources, at least 20 Indian Army personnel have been injured in this clash. At the same time, the Chinese army has also suffered heavy losses.

    No deaths have been reported so far. The injured are being treated at the Military Hospital in Guwahati. Many of the soldiers reportedly broke their hands and legs. According to army sources, around 600 Chinese soldiers were present on the other side at the time of the incident. Today, more than two thousand Indian nationals have been evacuated from the border areas and shifted to safer places. Official sources in the Indian Army said tension still prevails in the border areas.

    The Indian Army is ready to face any situation. More than 10,000 Indian Army is being sent from Tezpur headquarters near Tawang sector. According to the Army, there is a dispute over the border line on this LoC and there is often a tension during patrolling.According to local sources, the build-up of troops of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) along the LAC was seen on December 9. The Indian Army personnel forbade him to do so and firmly prevented him from moving forward. Soldiers from both sides suffered injuries in the clash that followed. After the incident, the local Commander of India held a flag meeting with the commander of the Chinese side and discussed maintaining peace and stability as per the pre-decided arrangements.

    There are some areas of lac in Tawang where both sides claim their own and soldiers of both countries patrol here. This trend has been going on since 2006. According to sources, Indian troops gave a befitting reply in the face-to-face area in Tawang. The number of injured Chinese soldiers is far more than the Indian soldiers. It has been revealed that 20 Indian soldiers have been seriously injured in this clash, who have been brought to Guwahati for good treatment. In fact, both India and China claim some areas along the LAC in the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh.
