New Delhi : With its focus on challenges and initiatives for tackling the issues of climate change, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) today organized the 4th International Climate Change Exhibition (ICCE) 2011, a platform for companies to display their new technologies, products, and services driven towards addressing adverse effects of climate change. HE Dr Leonel Fernandez, President of Dominican Republic, Actress Ms Dia Mirza, along with Dr RK Pachauri, Director General TERI inaugurated exhibition.

The exhibition is a preview to TERI’s annual flagship event the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit starting tomorrow. The Climate Change Exhibition attracted 25 exhibitors who displayed their climate change developmental projects, technologies; know-how and expertise in tackling climate change impact that will help people to tackle it by leading a low carbon lifestyle.

In his address Dr RK Pachauri said, “With an increasing focus on energy-efficient, renewable and low-carbon technologies globally, this exhibition organized by TERI is an excellent platform to create mass awareness about latest technologies. Today’s technology provides us opportunities. It is for us to rise together to take advantage of these technologies and translate them for the betterment of mankind.”

The objective of the exhibition is not limited to creating awareness about climate change but geared to generating awareness about local efforts and research that are being undertaken to mitigate climate impacts. Thus the exhibition offers a great platform to all the exhibitors to demonstrate various new eco-friendly products, technologies, and services that are available today, a result of extensive and on-going research to build a path for a sustainable future.

In order to provide a momentum to the solution-finding process, the exhibition also showcased examples of successful transfer of technologies for greenhouse gas reductions, and building capacity and knowledge on climate change among different stakeholders.

Climate change poses an unprecedented global challenge for everyone and a comprehensive action agenda to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and gathering stakeholder views to find solutions is a need. This is the very basis of the exhibition being organized by TERI starting today till February 05, 2011.
