Over 150 teams participated in this year’s edition

Chennai : Srinivasa Ramanujam and Deepa Alexander took the rolling trophy for the Madras Quiz 2022 held at the Madras Management Association auditorium, off Anna Salai, on Sunday. Running for the 18th year in a row, the quiz hosted by quizmaster Dr Sumanth C Raman made an offline comeback after two years of lockdown-induced online versions.

Jayakanthan R and Srinath B, and Aravind Balasubramanian and Vidhya Swaminathan, won the second and third runners-up places respectively. Guessing which sambar came from which iconic Chennai eatery was a special round introduced in this year’s edition, flummoxing all but one of the finalist teams. Celebrities IG Thirunavukkarasu, Dr Sudha Seshayyan, Sanjay Subrahmanyan, Sriram V, Dr Swarnamalya and RJ Sano asked questions recorded on video, serving as a grand finale to this year’s Madras Week celebrations.

Women, senior citizen and school student teams were awarded special prizes.

The Madras Quiz, supported by the Murugappa Group, has become one of the most awaited quizzing events of Chennai, known as the quizzing capital of India. Ardent quizzers, both old and young came on a Sunday afternoon to spend their day quizzing on all things Madras.

Winning teams received CholaMS trophies and backpacks, Hercules cycles from TI Cycles, Track & Trail vouchers and special hampers from EID Parry and Parry Agro.
