Guwahati : The Clause 6 implementation chairman MP Bezbaruah has decided to walk out of the Clause 6 implementation committee that was formed by the Union Home Ministry thus disbanding the committee. Bezbaruah expressed his disappointment over the Union Home Ministry and said that the members were not notified prior to the formation of the committee. As per notification issued by the Ministry on January 5 ,the committee was headed by M P Bezbaruah. It is to be mentioned that Former Assam Sahitya Sabha presidents, Dr Nagen Saikia and Rong Bong Terang, educationist Mukunda Rajbongshi and the AASU members had already rejected to be a part of the committee. However, former editor of the Sentinel Dhirendra Nath Bezbaruah had decided to be a member of the committee but has cleared his stand against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

Bezbaruah expressed his disappointment over the Union Home Ministry saying that the members were not notified prior to the formation of the committee. However, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) who has been a participant of the Assam Accord made it clear in the very beginning not to be a part of the committee. Meanwhile, veteran journalist DN Bezbaruah assured to continue as a panel member to give an answer to the government with some harsh words. He further said that he is not surprised on resigning the members one by one and that the committee will serve for a very little time. At first Bezbaruah also wants to resign from the panel member but later decided to stay as he has something to say to the government some unkind words and someone has to say as this is not a minor issue. Someone has to take the step and that he will do according to his capacity as a member of the panel. The Committee is now under the verge of getting disbanded as more than half the members have stepped out of the committee and rejected to be a part of the committee.
