Three cheers to Aravind Kejriwal, the new Delhi Chief Minister, for his water programme- free water to every
Delhi household.
The young and pro-poor Chief Minister, through his revolutionary (Inquilab Zindabad) declaration, has met the aspiration of the rich and poor alike in Delhi at least in the water issue. Has proved, he treats all equal and he is a true socialist. The Aam Admi party leader who ascended to power on a declared pro-poor plank does not discriminate between the rich and poor, haves and have-nots, at least in his free-water programme. The Aam Aadmi chief is a visionary with revolutionary approach. His heart beats for the poor.
But the cynics are a bit critical of his ground-breaking decision. They argue Kejriwal’s hasty resolution to supply free water to all will never help the deserving poor. Their contention: The chief minister has categorically said that houses having installed water connection with calibrated water meters will only be eligible for 700 liters of free water a day.
An official estimate says over 7 lakh poor families in Delhi have no water connections, which means these poor house hold will not be the beneficiaries of the pro-poor Chief Minister’s benevolence. On the contrary, every rich and affluent in Delhi will enjoy the free-water scheme. What a revolutionary step ‘sir jee’
The skeptics seldom realize that. Their contention is, the just declared free-water scheme is to benefit the rich and affluent New Delhi constituencies and not the poor and deprive Old Delhi. The real Aam Aadmi (common man) is not the beneficiary of the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) programme. The 7 lakh plus poor houses will have to depend on “water mafia” for their daily water.
This is the beauty of the Kejriwal water effect. The affluent that were paying who were paying for their water will no more need to pay and the poor who voted Kejriwal to power will continue to be at the mercy of the tanker lobby.
This is Kejriwal effect. This is the AAP revolution.
