  • The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development Student tocarry the Indian Flag High At 42nd WorldSkills Competition

    Bangalore  – Rahul Gomes Pereira, a student of the prestigious Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development has been selected to represent India in the Mr  Rahul Gomes Pereira Kitchen Management Associate The Oberoi Centrecooking skills category at the renowned 42nd WorldSkills global competition in Leipzig, Germany in July 2013.India will be competing in a total of 22 skills against the world’s best young talent.Rahul is the sole Indian representative to the competition as the torch-bearer for India’s cooking skills.

     

    Rahul,aKitchen Management Associate will be accompanied by his trainer and mentor, Chef Parvinder Singh Bali, Programme Manager Culinary Services at The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development and will be competing to demonstrate the best of his culinary prowess against chefs from 52 other countries.

     

    With the competition’s criteria stipulating that candidates can be no older than22 yearsold at the time of competition, preliminary rounds of the competition were held across all regions in India. Finalists were selected for all skills, except cooking in Pune in March 2013. Rahul impressed the jury with his expertise and was selected to represent India at the cooking finals, heldat The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development on 30th and 31st March, 2013.

     

    WorldSkills gives young talent between the ages of 17 to 22 the opportunity to demonstrate their excellence in skilled professions. Winners are awarded medals and certificates of achievement recognising their skills and abilities in their respective fields.
