New Delhi: The Programming Foundation has received Google ad grants to expand its reach and core competencies to provide free education in computer science globally. Focused on education based on written instruction and concise documentation supported with examples and processes, the foundation provides students with hands-on experience for working together as a team by developing free and open-source software projects to aid in global disaster relief and international humanitarian aid efforts for the public good.

The Google ad grants are being used to target the markets in India, US, South East Asia and other parts of the world to expand the reach to leverage maximum people. Digitalization of education in semi-urban and rural areas is still a challenge to achieve due to poor infrastructure, device access, data cost, lack of skills, gender inequalities and various other barriers. To address the concern, Google expanded its annual grant commitment to $ 1 billion in June 2020 to support non-profits fight Covid-19 and racial injustice.

The Programming Foundation, President & Founder, Subhajeet Mukherjee said, ‘the challenges of participating in quality computer science education is deeply entangled in the web of socio-economic, cultural and racial disparities. We were fortunate enough to receive the ad grant to expand the reach to leverage maximum people.’

‘Programming in the real world is not easy as drag and drop tools. A lot of people don’t know how an operating system works. When it comes to developing core competencies in computer programming, people or children with limited resources face significant barrier to entry”

Computer programming is no longer a recommended skill but a requirement for the 21st century, The Programming Foundation aims towards providing free, quality learning that can be accessible to all. The objective is to democratize education for free to expand its access to maximum people so that no one is left behind when the world advances.

The platform does not require any registration or downloading anything and is free from any kind of ads. Just visit theprogrammingfoundation.org, click on any module, and you can learn within the website itself and start coding immediately even on your phone. If you need further help, there is a community of several volunteers who have signed up to help users.

Besides Google ad grants, TPF has also received in-kind support from major technology companies.
