• Training under ‘Project Samarthya’
• Times Centre of learning to set up 5 centres in Gujarat

District Mineral Foundation (DMF), State Nodal Unit of the Government of Gujarat has selected Times Centre of Learning (TCL) for Project Samarthya. “Project Samarthya” aims to address the need of providing vocational training to youth of mining affected areas, with marketable skills and enhance their capacity to secure employment in the organized sector with adequate income generation. TCL will set up training centres in Kutch, Ahmedabad, Dahod, Sabarkantha, Vadodara and Rajkot and also mobilize participants from nearby districts to cover all the mining affected districts in the state.

TCL will train 990 villagers from 1946 mining affected villages in the area. The training will be for both men and women and be both residential and non – residential. TCL has designed the training to focus on sectors with an employment potential such as Construction, Automotive, Healthcare, Apparel and Tourism etc. Along with core domain skills, the trainings program will include development of IT and Soft & Life Skills.

Commenting on the same Smt. Veena Padia, Director- DMF, SNU Office of Commissioner Geology & Mining Gandhinagar, Government of Gujarat said, “We are implementing various model projects that will have a positive impact across all the mining affected districts. An employment-oriented skill development program named ‘Project Samarthya’ is a program known for its transparency and good governance process that has been awarded prestigious SKOCH Award. I am glad that Times Centre for Learning is one of our valued partners in this program”

TCL’s mandate is to train 990 candidates from remote mining affected areas. Of these 450 candidates have already been trained for various positions like General Duty Assistant, Welding & Quality Technician, Automotive Service Technician and Sewing Operators. These Candidates have been placed in the reputed organizations too.

Each apprentice will graduate with an opportunity to move into a career in an industry of their choice. They will begin their careers with a starting remuneration between Rs. 7,500- 10,000 per month after successful completion of the programme.
