  • With a myriad of options available to visit, Delhi attracts a lot of travelers from far and wide. The capital city of India has numerous identities and a vast pool of places to visit which makes the city as one of the biggest tourist attractions in the country. From the Red Fort to the markets of Chandani Chowk, and from Lotus Temple to Akshardham, Delhi is home to historical monuments, religious landmarks, phenomenal architecture, and a plethora of diversified cultures and traditions. When the cool breeze come down the Himalayas and hit the capital city of India, the city becomes a host for travelers from across the globe. Although there a number of famous tourist places in Delhi NCR, yet out of these places, few of them stand unique from the rest as they become more specialized in the winter season.

    Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary: Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is surely a bird watcher’s paradise with a scenic view of the lake. In winters, the sanctuary provides a picturesque panorama of migratory birds which can be easily spotted wading, swimming or flying.  More than 100 migratory bird species arrive at Sultanpur every year in the search of feeding grounds. Migratory birds such as Siberian Cranes, Greater Flamingo, Ruff, and Black-winged Stilt among others. The sanctuary has a path made to walk and see the birds around the lake. It also has two viewpoints where you can climb up and see the birds.

    Tughlaqabad Fort: Located near the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, the Tughlaqabad Fort is an ancient ruined fort in New Delhi. It was built in the year 1321 by Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq, who was the founder of the Tughlaq Dynasty.

    Tughlaqabad Fort though is an advanced state of ruin but it is a piece of architectural marvel. It is a massive attraction for the people interested in history. The ramparts, battlements and the immense stonework of this fort speak greatly about the engineering skills of the workers. The massive fortification still holds the remarkable city walls and circular bastions which tell the story about its grandeur. On Southern side of the fort, the Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq’s Tomb is a well preserved mausoleum that is connected to the fort by an elevated causeway. The tomb is a beautiful reminder of the Indo-Islamic style of the architecture which was in vogue at that period.

    Surajgarh: “A village in the city”- Surajgarh is a place to go for the people who are craving for a village life experience. It provides you with the fusion of the vibrant cultures of two states- Haryana and Rajasthan. At Surajgarh you have it all, from the smell of mud, folk dance, Mehndi, agricultural activities, head massage, tube well bath to camel rides and many more games and adventurous activities. This place is a must-visit for all the food lovers as drool-worthy village food cooked with old village techniques is available with so many options from the vast cuisine of the two-states at Surajgarh. It is one of the best places in NCR to spend some quality time with family and friends while enjoying the vibrant rural India.

    Damdama Lake: Damdama Lake, near Delhi, is a nice place to visit during the winter season. Damdama Lake is one of the biggest natural lakes in Haryana, located near the Aravalli Hills and is the perfect place to go for boating.

    Damdama Lake forms a serene view in the Aravalli hills as a striking backdrop to its placid waters. Adventure sports like Hot Air Ballooning, Para Sailing, Rock Climbing, and Cycling can be availed here. Damdama Lake provides a variety for boating as there are many options available such as Row Boats, Paddle Boats, and Motor Boats. Damdama Lake is also good for adventure activities as you will have ample scope to try out your skills in the difficult terrains of the Aravalli.

    Garden Of Five Senses: Garden of Five senses is a park sprawling across 20 acres of land and built on rocky terrain with various theme areas in the garden. It is not just a park but it is space, which is inviting public interaction and exploration. The Garden is designed to stimulate one’s sensory responses to the environment as the mixture of color and fragrance, texture and form evoke the consciousness of touch, smell, sight, sound, and taste. The garden has Khas Bagh, flower shows, fountains, water cascades, food court, shopping center, different sculptures etc within it to attract thousands of tourists and natives to spare time with the serene beauty.
