Haflong : Even though there has been DDMA’s new SOP was in place wherein opening of all shops were mentioned for notified time but the recent notice from Haflong Municipal Board to shut down shops other than  groceries, Bakery, pharmacy, vegetable, Fish & meat, egg vendors etc. the traders were in dilemma which notice to follow.

The notice from Haflong Municipal Board stated that as per emergent decision of the meeting of the members, N.C.Hills Autonomous Council Haflong Dima Hasao Dtd. 24th May/2021 on Covid-19 situation.

The following essential commodities shops shall only be allowed to open such as groceries, Bakery, pharmacy, vegetable, Fish & meat, egg vendors within the Jurisdiction of Haflong Municipal Board and the other shops are directed to shut down with immediate effect until further order.

One trader said the recent notice from Haflong Municipal Board authority did not communicate with the merchant association before issuing such notice. He said it is good to keep closed shops to fight against pandemic spread but closure for all shops would also hamper the life of people in general.

But the people argued that during this crisis, which they should follow, DDMA or HMB. Sudden Closure of all the shops other than grocery, vegetables, medicines etc would cast serious impact on trader’s economy opined conscious people of Haflong .

The chairman of the Haflong Municipal Board could not be contacted for his comments.
