In Andhra Pradesh, traffic on several high ways in Telangana region has come to a stand still today following Rasta Roko demonstrations held by agitators in support of statehood for Telangana. The Telangana Rastra Samithi has given a call for Rasta Roko while the Telangana political Joint Action Committee and several other students, trade unions, teachers and employees organisations extended solidarity demanding the Government to introduce the Bill to carve out Telangana state in the budget session of Parliament. Vehicular Traffic has come to grinding halt for several kilometres on many highways connecting Telangana districts due to rasta roko. The inner roads in Hyderabad have been spared to avoid inconvenience to people. However, highways leading to Hyderabad have been blocked. Meanwhile, police forces have been deployed at all important places on highways to prevent untoward incidents.
