Training for Counting Officials held in Chirang

Kajalgaon(Chirang): The District Election Officer, Chirang on Wednesday started its training for Counting Officials that includes  Counting Supervisors and Counting Assistants in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner office here at Kajalgaon in Chirang district.
The officials, who are engaged in the task of vote counting on May 23, in respect of 31- Sidli (ST) Assembly segment under 5- Kokrajhar (ST) Parliamentary Constituency underwent training on the intricacies of vote counting and its process as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The officials were trained through Power Point Presentation by the master trainers on how to handle the electronic voting machine (EVM), Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), counting of votes, tabulation and data entry, counting of postal ballot and Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) and others dos and don’ts during the counting process.
Addressing the trainees, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Chirang  Gautam Talukdar, briefed about the important guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) that needs to be followed on the day of counting including security and other arrangements in and around the counting centre and the duties and responsibilities of the officials involved in counting duty on the day of counting of votes.
He also enlightened the officials about compilation of round wise results and communication and uploading the results through ‘Suvidha App’.
He also informed that there will be 18 counting supervisers, 18 counting assistants and 20 micro observers for counting of votes in fourteen tables arrangement made in a hall of the UN Brahma College, Kajalgaon.
He told them to take utmost precaution before announcing the number of votes that a candidate has garnered after every round. “Only after you are fully convinced that it is right should you announce the figures,” he said.
The officials were intimated that counting will commence at 8.00 AM and the whole counting process will be carried out in presence of the General observer, Assistant Returning officer and candidates or their election agents of all political parties of the district.
The training programme was also attended by ADC (Election) Biswajit Goswami, Election Officer Jagadish Brahma and Assistant Commissioner Ringkhang Mushahary.
