  • Tributes to the victims of the October 30, serial bomb blasts in Assam

    The serial blast in Assam on 30th October, 2008 was very scary. Today, 12 years ago, on the same day – October 30, a series of blasts took place in several parts of Assam. More than 91 people were killed and 500 injured in nine blasts in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta Road and Bongaigaon.

    The day is now marked as Black Day in the history of Assam. In Guwahati, 53 people lost their lives in three blasts at Ganeshgudi, Kachari and Panbazar. Ranjan Daimari, head of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, was the mastermind behind the blasts. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by a CBI court last year. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to condole the unfortunate incident. In this unfortunate incident, religious people from different communities were present to pray for the peace of the departed souls. MLA Parimal ShuklaBaidya, MLA Chandra Mohan Patwari, MLA from Dispur Atul Bora were also present to condole the function. He then paid floral tributes at photographs of those who lost their lives.
