Tripura to include women’s issues in school syllabus

The Tripura government is planning to include issues such as domestic violence, crime against women and place of women in the society in school curriculum, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said on Monday.

Expressing concern over the rise of crime against women and children, he said, “Students should be sensitized about the respectful position of women in the society and they must be made aware about the implications of crime against women and domestic violence.”

Following suggestions from women activists and teachers, the government has planned a school curriculum where these issues would be incorporated, the CM said.

He also condemned the recent rape of a child in Delhi.
