New Delhi: Uber, India’s leading mobility platform today, announced the expansion of its She++ initiative to promote diversity and inclusion beyond binary gender. She++ was launched in 2019 to provide early-in-career opportunities for women to intern with Uber’s engineering teams, network with business leaders and get a glimpse into what a career in technology looks like. This year, Uber is expanding the initiative to include people with disabilities, reflecting Uber’s commitment to equity.

Uber has seen a significant increase in the number of applications since the initiative began. This year, She++ has received over 2,000 applications from top engineering colleges across India, indicating the growing demand for diversity and inclusivity in the workforce. The event held on March 30th at the Uber campus in Hyderabad, provided students with opportunities to network with Uber business leaders, and HR professionals, giving them insights into the world of technology.

Ritika Khullar, Head of Diversity Equity & Inclusion, Uber APAC, said, “According to WHO, around 16% of the world’s population experiences a significant disability, and creating equity and access for them is key to our mission.
