Chennai: Ujjivan Small Finance Bank observes ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ from November 11 to November 16, 2024, to raise awareness on importance of staying vigilant and foster ethical banking practices among its employees. This year the bank’s employee campaign “Watch Out for Each Other” underscores the importance of mutual vigilance, which is in-line with Govt. of India’s theme: “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity”. The Chief Guest – Dr. M. A. Saleem, IPS (Director General of Police – CID), Government of Karnataka inaugurated the event with a ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a keynote speech. Dr. Saleem emphasised on how the Integrity of the individuals leads to the Integrity of the institutions. He stressed that bank personnel must never be negligent in handling customer funds, cautioning that any connivance by Bank staff in fraudulent activities would result in vicarious financial liability for the bank.
Other dignitaries included Ms. Sudha Suresh, Independent Director and Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the Board of the Bank; Mr. Sanjeev Nautiyal, Managing Director & CEO; Ms. Carol Furtado, Whole-Time Executive Director and Mr. John Christy, Chief Vigilance Officer.
Through the week, Ujjivan will organise a series of awareness programmes, workshops, and quizzes across its branches to promote ethical conduct of business and operations, fraud prevention, and foster customer trust. The bank will also recognise outstanding employees who have demonstrated integrity and high ethical standards at work.
