Union Minister Shripad Naik was injured in a car accident in Karnataka last evening. Mr Naik’s wife Vijaya and helper Deepak died in the mishap. The incident took place near Hosakambi village of Ankola taluk in Uttar Kannada district of Karnataka. The Minister was travelling from Yellapur to Gokarna in the state when the mishap occurred.

 
Mr Naik, who is the Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent) and Minister of State for Defence has been shifted to a hospital in Goa for treatment.
 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to ensure proper arrangements for the treatment of Union Minister Shripad Naik.

 
Karnataka Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa has expressed shock over the demise of the Union Minister’s wife and prayed for the early recovery of Mr Naik.
