St. Louis, Mo: Valley Insurance Agency Alliance (VIAA), a cohesive family of nearly 100 independent insurance agencies in
Founded in 2006, VIAA is located at 7745 Carondelet Ave. in Clayton, Mo. The alliance generates more than $125 million in written premium and is the regional founding member in Missouri and Southern Illinois for the Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance (SIAA), a $6 billion national insurance coalition. SIAA, which is the nation’s largest partnership of independent insurance agencies, consists of the highest caliber of firms that share a leveraged strength with their carrier partners and industry resources.
VIAA is the sister company of POWERS Insurance and Benefits, which is one of the largest family owned and operated independent insurance agencies in the bi-state region. The company provides personal and business insurance, surety, risk management and employee benefits. POWERS Insurance and Benefits recently celebrated its 25th year in business.
“This alliance was a group effort made possible by my very hard working and dedicated family,” said Managing Member Pierce Powers. “I don’t think any of us ever imagined growing our alliance to almost 100 independent insurance agencies, and yet I never had any doubts that it would be successful.” Pierce added that the benefits of joining the alliance include retaining an agency’s independence while “simultaneously gaining extensive access to markets. VIAA members have the ability to increase earnings, as well as take advantage of mentoring opportunities and industry education.”
“We are honored to celebrate with Valley Insurance Agency Alliance as they mark a decade of service to Missouri’s and Illinois’ independent insurance agents,” said SIAA Chief Executive Officer Jim Masiello. “With support from VIAA, Missouri’s independent agents have seen and will continue to see higher premiums and increased access to new markets while they remain independent. We are pleased to know that SIAA’s relationship-based model is opening doors for independent agents in Missouri and Illinois, as it has for 3,400 independent insurance agencies across the country.”
