The Government has said that various measures have been taken so that women can join the armed forces.

In a written reply in Rajya Sabha yesterday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, Indian Air Force has allowed all women officers in Short Service Commission for grant of Permanent Commission in all the branches, including flying branches.

He said the Centre has promulgated policy to extend the grant of Permanent Commission to Women Officers in the eight arms and services in Indian Army.
