  • VERC Enterprises and Vermont-based Ceres team up to bring CBD products to company’s locations in MA

DUXBURY, MA and BURLINGTON, VT: VERC Enterprises (http://vercenterprises.com), a leading convenience store and Mobil/Gulf/Irving/Shell gasoline operator with locations throughout Eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire, today announced that it is teaming up with the Burlington, VT based Ceres Natural Remedies (https://ceresremedies.com) to bring CBD products to its 30+ locations throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Leo Vercollone, Chief Executive Officer of VERC Enterprises, said that his firm’s due diligence and research into this emerging industry led him to the conclusion that Ceres is the right firm to partner with.

“Ceres is an industry leader,” said Vercollone, adding, “Our commitment is to bring the best quality product to our stores, and the way to achieve that is to partner with a firm that invests in training and in education for the general public, and one with an investment in and commitment to our region.”

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a plant derived compound known as a phytocannabinoid, mostly found in the flowers of the cannabis/herb plant. Studies point to CBD as providing therapeutic benefits, including alleviation of pain, anxiety, seizures and inflammation. CBD is non-psychotropic, meaning that it does not contain the intoxicants that make a user “high.” Vercollone said, “People sometimes equate CBD with the intoxicant found in marijuana. CBD products do not contain this.” He said that CBD can be used to treat insomnia, muscle ache, and other ailments. And, while VERC Enterprises has sold CBD products over the last few years, Vercollone said that they are looking for an affiliation with an entity that will strongly support their efforts in this new market.

VERC has sent a number of its managers to the Ceres facilities in Vermont, where they have toured the facility where the product is manufactured, as well as being educated on what CBD is, how it works, and how to correctly promote it to the public. “It’s a CDB 101 program,” says Aaron Harris, Director of Development & Ceres Wholesale Sales.

Harris said that his organization makes artisanal quality products that incorporate science-based healing. “Ceres houses Vermont’s largest knowledge base and selection of hemp-based CBD products for adults and pets. Our specialized knowledge and sole focus in natural healing remedies helps guide customers to a product that works best for them.”

“It’s been great to get to know the managers at VERC Enterprises,” Harris says, noting that a good number of VERC team members have already visited the Ceres facility and others are scheduled to do so in the near future.

Ceres has in addition to its three CBD stores in Burlington, Middlebury and Brattleboro Vermont.

Harris said that his organization will also help Vercollone and VERC Enterprises with a new initiative that VERC is rolling out, namely, opening up a CBD store within several of their locations, and which will carry Ceres CBD products. He said, “This is unique for us, too, working with a well-established and well-respected member of the convenience store industry. We are excited to partner with Leo and VERC Enterprises.”

Harris, whose background included heading a beverage company, trētap, which created a sparkling beverage made with tree water extracted from the maple syrup-making process, had contemplated the idea of a CBD beverage and it was then that he connected with his current firm, Ceres Natural Remedies. “We are a progressive firm committed to great products and very consumer-focused when it comes to education on CBD, which is very much still an emerging industry here in New England.” He said, “We assure people that, unlike products they may acquire via other sources, this is a highly regulated industry with many controls on quality.” Their work with VERC Enterprises will focus on various oils, gummies, salves, and topical treatments. He said, “Just as his managers have come to Vermont to train, we will go to the Massachusetts locations and help with their stores, in terms of education and display of Ceres products.”

He added, “We are so excited about our relationship with Leo. He has expressed that it feels great to offer health and wellness products to his customers! It is great to partner with Leo and VERC in the CBD wellness space and getting traction in the mainstream distribution channels.”
