    Haflong  : To keep the villagers quarantine those who come from outside Dima Hasao, the people of Hangrum, one of the remotest villages bordering Nagaland of Dima Hasao at least 120 km from Haflong constructed a small cottage or a small hut with capacity of 15 to 20 persons 5km from the village out of natural resources.

    Following the directives from the Government, the people of Hangrum under the leadership of Gaon Bura with natural resources like bamboo, banana leaves in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its infection.

    The villagers of the village are too poor that they cannot afford enough facilities for the quarantine to stay safely. But to save the villagers and the district from this deadly disease the villagers took this initiative of their own.

    Though there would be difficulties to live in such a place and a hut but as per government order the villagers arranged a place to keep them separate for 14 to 15 days to fight Corona virus and to save Hangrum, save Dima Hasao, Assam, India and the whole world. The villagers will extend the hut according to the increase of the quarantine.

    Meanwhile one quarantine facility with 40 beds has been set up at Siksha Bhavan in Haflong and more lined up, as many as 240 persons in the entire district are in home quarantined for 14 days and asked to maintain social distance in-order to prevent probable spread of COVID-19. These are people who recently returned home, have recent travel history from other effected states like Delhi, Karnataka etc and have been home quarantine as precautionary measure. One suspect is isolated whose sample is sent to Silchar Medical College. Till date 2186 numbers of people have been screened.
