  • Vinod Tawade launches learning disability course at HACSE, stresses on inclusive education for disabled children

    Mumbai: Lauding the initiative of Hashu Advani College of Special Education (HACSE) in doing commendable work in creating a 2talent pool of trained personnel for training special children, Shri Vinod Tawade, Minister, School Education, Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, inaugurated the B Ed(Special Education-Learning Disability)  course at the college on July 30. This is a full time two year program, admissions for the program are open in academic year 2016. It is affiliated to Mumbai University and is recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India. HACSE is an institution run by Chembur Colony Yuvak Mandal (CCYM), supported by Vivekanand Education Society (VES).

    “Shri Hashu Advaniji was a visionary, a selfless individual whose strength lay in the formation of a professional and talented team of individuals who have carried his noble legacy forward. Not merely resting on carrying forward his great work, the present team should establish new milestones in formulating new academic courses and innovative programs for disabled children. This course is a unique initiative to train potential personnel who have been sensitized and trained in a professional manner to teach disabled children and assimilate them in the social mainstream.” Stated Shri Tawade. He also stressed on the larger inclusion of children with disabilities in the mainstream education milieu and stated that normal children and parents should be sensitized to the needs of special children through counselling sessions.

    CCYM operates a host of institutions including Rochiram Thadani High School for Hearing Impaired, Yogvidya Center and Akaar Health Centre. Hearing handicapped children from RTT High School also participated in the program by performing cultural programs and proving they could perform to their utmost capacity given the right chance and environment. Shri Vinod Tawade interacted with the hearing impaired children and the audience and sought their suggestions in making education for disabled children an easy and effective means to make life normal for them.

    HACS is a leading name in curating specialized programs for special education for the last two decades and conceptualized this special course for plugging the huge demand supply gap which exists when it comes to trained personnel to teach special abilities children. There is a definite need today to indentify, assess, intervene and advocate the needs of children with disabilities and such specialized courses are the need of the hour, said Shri Amar Asrani, Director, CCYM.

    Shri Vino Tawade also inaugurated the Anil Asrani Vocational College which is affiliated to various vocational boards and offers professional vocational courses.
