  • Vocal for local can only be adopted with the help & support of Industry

    To make India self-reliant, more incentives are to be given to the industry, to help expedite their businesses, deliberated Mr. Sushil Gupta, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, New Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a webinar organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

    Mr. Gupta mentioned that the commercial vehicles in Delhi have started to run on CNG and a lot of industries have been converted to PNG, which has curbed the pollution level to some extent. He also spoke about the efforts of the Delhi government in converting parali burning into compost and fertilizers have also helped in reducing the pollution levels. 

    Talking about the effect of COVID-19 on Delhi, Mr. Gupta mentioned that the Delhi government has been putting a lot of efforts to deal with the pandemic. It helped in setting fixed rates in the hospitals for COVID patients, opened plasma hospitals, got more beds available in the hospitals, met all the medical facilities and took every possible measure and precaution to fight with the pandemic. He said that we need to realize that the pandemic is a global crisis and the entire nation needs to come together to fight with it.

    He also said that for the smooth functioning of the industry, the Delhi Govt has eliminated inspector raj system so that the industry does not have to go to 30-40 departments for approvals. This has also led to an increase in the revenue of businesses as well. Vocal for local can only be adopted with the help and support of the industry and the whole country has to unanimously work towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat, said Mr. Gupta.

    Mr. Ram Kripal Yadav, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Pataliputra, Bihar, BJP while discussing the initiatives undertaken by their government in Bihar, mentioned that Bihar has progressed a lot in the last decade. Reforms have been undertaken in sectors like infrastructure; water; electricity and agriculture, which have improved the condition of the state manifold, said Mr. Yadav.

    He also said that unemployment is a sector which is being worked upon and that will automatically improve the economy as well. With the efforts of government and ministries, Bihar will find solutions to its problems and accelerate its development in the times to come.

    Mr. Pradeep Multani, Senior Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his welcome remarks deliberated about the need for ease of doing business which would be a major step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. It would help in Make in India, attract FDI, generate employment and double farmer’s income. He suggested some steps which included single window clearance; reduction in the number of government departments; one-time registration for license; cost aspect reduction and an efficient & speedy justice system. He also emphasized that every sector should be given production-linked incentives so that it can help India become self-reliant and make the industry profitable.

    Mr. Rakesh Gupta, Chairman-Parliamentary Forum, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry while moderating the interaction with the MPs, deliberated about the effects of pollution in Delhi and how the pandemic is badly affecting the economy.
